Shelley Kimball is a Coast Guard spouse, an Army sister, and an Air Force daughter. She was selected as the 2013 AFI Coast Guard Spouse of the Year and is especially passionate about issues related to military spouse employment and military children.

Shelley holds a doctorate in mass communication with a specialization in media law and teaches media law at The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. She also writes a twice-monthly column about family issues, “From the Homefront,” for Coast Guard All Hands, the official blog for the Coast Guard workforce.

She and her husband, Joe, have been married for 14 years. They and their two children, Joey and Gracie, recently moved from Florida to Virginia.
