Sidra Montgomery, a Navy spouse, is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on the military and veteran community, specifically examining how social context impacts identity. Sidra’s dissertation explores the significance of the “wounded warrior” construct within the lives of wounded, injured, or ill post-9/11 veterans. She is also working with Dr. Meredith Kleykamp to research the experiences of transitioning service members and their families.

A graduate of Beloit College, where she majored in sociology, Sidra holds a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Maryland. She has worked as a program analyst at the National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and in veteran statistics at the U.S. Census Bureau.

Outside of her research and work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy.
